About the poet :
Rabindranath Tagore was born on may 7, 1861 at Calcutta in a distinguished Brahmin family.
He was educated mostly at home.
He was a poet, playwright, critic, essayist, novelist ,short -story writer and educationist.
Tagore had already acquired a great reputation in Bengal before his poems were translated into English.
He was the Nobel prize for literature in 1913. His many - sided genius compel admiration. His lyrics are marked by spontaneous flow, delicacy as well as exhuberance of fancy, a radiant clarity and grace of diction charm and poignancy of feeling and abundance of natural imagery.
Among his poetical works the most popular are "Gitanjali" ,"The Crescent moon ",The Gardener ","Fruit gathering ","lover's gift ".

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear steam of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom my Father let my country awake.

Heaven is what where you are free to do what you want
